Atlantic Cancer Research Institute Hosts Annual Research Symposium
An international symposium held in Moncton June 18th and 19th, attracted participants from throughout Canada, several U.S. states and Europe. Entitled the Atlantic Omics Symposium and Expo, the conference organized by the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) allows participants exchange on the current state of emerging technologies in the broad area of “omics”.
A recently coined suffix attached to such fields as genomics and proteomics “omics," is a broad discipline for analyzing various large-scale and data-rich biological systems. “By brining in a variety of experts in this emerging field, it enables us to stay abreast of the rapid technology development.” says Dr. Rodney Ouellette, CEO and Director of Discovery at the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute. "It’s a great forum for the scientific community to share its experience and understanding of omic technologies and how it is used to analyze human disease”.
This fifth annual symposium welcomed well over a 100 participants that included a host of international speakers. The two day event was held at the Delta Beauséjour in Moncton.
