As founding Scientific Director of the Institute, Dr. Ouellette has assembled and leads a team of over 50 research scientists and staff. He has led four multi-million dollar large scale research initiatives in the past dozen years which have led to the development of new cancer biomarker technologies and their commercialization.

Dr. Ouellette received both his MD and PhD (Molecular and Cellular Biology) degree from Université Laval in 1996. He then completed his residency certification at the Université de Sherbrooke in 1998. He is currently the Scientific Director of the Vitalité Health Network and an associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Université de Moncton. He currently serves on boards including 3+ Corporation and Venn Innovation Inc. He has also been active on many provincial and national bodies including the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation, the Prostate Cancer Canada Research Advisory Council, the Terry Fox Research Institute Atlantic Node, the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Governing Council, the New Brunswick Medical Society and the Health Canada's Science Advisory Board.

In addition to being actively involved in cancer research initiatives and forging strategic partnerships, Dr. Ouellette has published numerous scientific papers in journals and conference proceedings.
